Succulents

Succulents: In botany, succulent plants, also known as succulents, are plants with parts that are thickened, fleshy, and engorged, usually to retain water in arid climates or soil conditions.

Succulents get their name because of the thick, fleshy, sap-filled leaves that are their trademark. These leaves allow them to hold and retain water more effectively than plants with thinner leaves.

Examples of succulents:  Cactus, Aloe, Sansevieria, Echeveria, Agave, Aeonium, Crassula, Haworthia, Graptopetalum Hybrids, Sedum, and Sempervivum.

Watering recommendation is only once a week and is recommended when the soil in a well drained container is bone dry.

Most succulent plants don’t require a lot of sun. Some succulents do require more sun than others.

Want to learn from the pros and have some fun building your own succulent dish? We offer workshops each year on how to build your own succulent dish.  Click here to learn more about our workshops.
