Our Greenhouses: A Family Affair
Young’s Greenhouse is a true family affair. Elma and Earl Young started the business more than 40 years ago selling our products town to town at area farmers markets. Now, decades later, even though we’re one of the largest greenhouses in Maine, we’re still rooted in tradition. We have four generations working in the greenhouses to bring you the quality plants and flowers you’ve come to expect. Even Elma, who is 87 years young, is still planting and watering in the greenhouses.
So whether you need a few baskets to beautify your porch, seedlings for your vegetable garden, or shrubbery for a massive landscaping project, we have you covered. Not to mention our second-to-none customer service. We’re the experts so you don’t have to be.
Even during the off-season, our greenhouses are bustling with activity. November and December is wreath season. We gather boughs right from our own property and transform them into beautiful holiday decorations for your home and business. We also bundle up birch logs and branches for sale.
Some other fun facts about our greenhouses:
- We have church functions in greenhouse #1 during the winter.
- An empty greenhouse is the perfect location for a nerf gun war zone in the off season.
- When a greenhouse empties out later in the summer – it makes the best sprinkler ever for the kids.
Spring and summer are the busiest months at Young’s Greenhouse. In our 14 greenhouses - which span a massive four acres - we grow a bountiful selection of top quality plants, fruits and vegetables, including:
- Annuals
- Perennials
- Trees
- Shrubs
