Lavender Sugar Scrub
Such a versatile herb, lavender can be used in soaps and baths to help soothe and calm the mind. Add it to pillow spray and it will help you drift to sleep at night. Fill a sachet with it and it will repel moths, as well as other insects. Make a relaxing tea from it or add it to sugar cookies and cakes for a light floral flavor.
Lavender is a calming scent I love to add it to my sugar scrubs. If you have dry skin or you like a good exfoliator this is a great solution. Just three ingredients and you have a beautiful sugar scrub. Who needs to go to the spa? You can have the same kind of smells and products right at home with clean ingredients to put on your skin.
It doesn’t take much to make your own sugar scrub. Just your favorite scent and a little bit of time.
What You Need
You need Lavender Essential Oil, Almond Oil, and Course Sugar.
How To Make The Dip
Add two cups of sugar to a medium size bowl. Any course sugar is fine. You want it to be a little abrasive, that is why I use course sugar.
Add 1/4 cup of almond oil. You could use olive oil but almond oil does not have the strong smell that other oils in your kitchen may have. It is also a very gentle oil.
Add about 5 drops of lavender essential oil. Feel free to add more if you want the scent stronger. You could also use your favorite essential oil. I just love the smell of lavender. I am also a big fan of doTERRA products. They are a pure essential oil option. Many other essential oils are diluted or have strange ingredients added.
You don’t need a blender or a mixer. Just a spoon and a few good stirs. Make sure you get the oils all mixed in and the sugar is nice and moist. If the sugar is still dry it will not scrub as well. The sugar takes off that dead skin and the oil puts the moisture back in.
That’s it. You can put the scrub in a jar and use later, or give away as a gift. Such a simple, clean ingredient, do-it-yourself, product. Hope your hands enjoy it!!
Enjoy!!!
