Easy Lemon Sugar Cookies With A Lavender Glaze

August 20, 2025

I absolutly love the smell of lavender.  Purple is also my favorite color!!  It was so much fun to be in the kitchen with lavender being chopped up.  This recipe is so yummy and fresh.  Who knew lavender would taste so good in a glaze?  But the best part of this recipe is that it is easy.  You are welcome to search up a sugar cookies recipe from scratch and add the extras for the lemon and lavender, but we used a sugar cookie mix.  Trial and error……We first wanted lemon lavender cookies with a glaze, so we added the lavender buds to the cookie dough.  Once they were baked up, the lavender bud was bitter to bite into.  YUCK! Instead, we made a simple lemon sugar cookie and infused the milk for the glaze with lavender.  YUM YUM!!!!

PSA: Preheat the oven to whatever the cookie mix or scratch recipe says!

What You Need:

You will need lavender buds, milk, powdered sugar, flour, lemon juice, and a sugar cookie dough recipe.

First The Milk

You never want warm or hot milk to make a glaze. I suggest you start by making the glaze and then let it sit or put it in an ice bath while you mix up and bake the cookies.  It was pretty simple.  I just steamed up some milk, chopped up the lavender buds, and added them to the steamed milk.  I shut off the heat and put a cover on the pot.  Just like steeping tea.

While my lavender milk was steeping I starting mixing up the cookies.  I wanted a lemon taste but without the bitterness of lemon extract. I decided to add 2 TBSP to the cookie mix with 2 TBSP of Lemon juice.  The consistency was perfect.  The cookies were not too runny when I put them on the pan.   Just mix up the butter and egg that the package suggests and add your flour and lemon juice.

Mix until everything is well incorporated. Then, use a tablespoon cookie scoop or roll them up with your hands.  No need to flatten them.  They will flatten as they cook.

While the cookies are cooking you can finish up your lavender glaze.  I poured the infused milk through a sieve to get all of the lavender buds out.  Then, with the milk in a cup, you can set it in an ice bath and stir in for a few minutes so that it cools down.

You want to mix your powdered sugar and milk together.  Make sure not to make it too runny or else it will just fall off the cookies. Unless you you like it like that! In that case, make it runny! 🙂

Enjoy!!!
